INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – On the 10000 block of Snowdrop Way, a white Colonial house is on the market for sale. It doesn’t appear the sign attracted any buyers as of yet, but it did attract a burglar.
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, someone broke into the vacant house and took a furnace and water heater. Officers had no information on a suspect to description.
24-Hour News 8 discovered a series of police reports where homes for sale were targeted by burglars for the household appliances inside.
Homeowners are encouraged to protect their investment by using a burglar alarm. Police suggest asking a trusted source to keep an eye on the property.
Lastly, investigators suggest calling IMPD’s non-emergency number at (317) 327-3811, and request extra patrol around your property.
“Make sure you secure the residence, particularly those that are vacant. Make sure all windows are secure,” said IMPD Sgt. Kendale Adams.
