New Amy Beverland principal praises community after tragedy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Amy Beverland community is welcoming a new principal to the elementary school.

The new Principal spoke to parents and media for the first time on Thursday.

This was after the school’s long-time principal, Susan Jordan, was killed in a tragic accident earlier this year.

Jered Pennington will start his new position on July 1.

He currently serves as the assistant principal of Promise Road Elementary school in Noblesville.

Pennington shared his thoughts about the excellence of Amy Beverland and the community that surrounds it.

“A parent said it best during the interview process when she said that circumstances that brought us together were unfortunate, however the beautiful thing is the world got to know how wonderful a learning community Amy Beverland is,” Pennington said.

Pennington was appointed after the school’s former principal, Susan Jordan was killed in a bus accident in January. A bus jumped over the curb as school was letting out. Jordan pushed several students out of the way.
