Orentlicher recount request granted

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – A recount was ordered Thursday in the Democratic Primary in the 8th Congressional District.

Former state Representative David Orentlicher is behind by 68 votes according to the election night count.

The state recount commission approved his request to have the votes counted again.

Ron Drake is in the lead and he made an unsuccessful request to the commission to drop the matter even though he expects the recount won’t change things.

“No, I expect probably, in fact, it’ll remain the same or the margin will increase,” he said. “I wanted to file this to protect the integrity of the process.”

The winner of the recount will face Republican incumbent Bucshon in November.
