IndyCar, IMS partnering with Snapchat for Indy 500

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Verizon IndyCar Series and Indianapolis Motor Speedway is partnering with Snapchat for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500.

Snapchat, which is a mobile picture and video storytelling platform, will come to life during the Indy 500.

Indy 500 fans will have the opportunity to take part in the “Live Stories” option. The option allows snapchatters to contribute their experience at the race by submitting their photos and videos to one collective story. The Live Story will be broadcast nationwide to millions of users right on their phone.

Here’s how it works:

  • Take a photo or video to Snap
  • Tape send and choose to submit to the Indianapolis 500 Live Story
  • After you’ve taken your Snap, swipe left to find cool event-themed Geofilters

Once you’ve submitted your photo or video, a team at Snapchat will go through the photos and videos and choose which stories will be available for all Snapchatters to see for 24 hours.

“Thousands of race fans use Snapchat to share moments from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the Live Story capturing many of their experiences from the 100th Running should be epic,” said C.J. O’Donnell, Chief Marketing Officer for Hulman Motorsports. “We can’t wait for Race Day and this is yet another part of the day to look forward to.”
