Rain or shine, hundreds of thousands of race fans will be out at the track this weekend, and while you’re busy packing your cooler, don’t forget your sunscreen! Dr. Keeter Sechrist, Dermatology, Inc., Board President, Outrun the Sun, chats with Tracy about what to look for in a good sunscreen, the proper ways of using it, signs of melanoma and the upcoming Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma on June 18.

Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma

-Races begin at 7pm (5-mile timed run, 5K run/walk, 1-mile walk); IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden is the spokesperson.

-Kids’ Zone, refreshments courtesy of First Watch, live music, health/wellness booths

-Doors open at 4pm; Fort Harrison State Park

-Five sun safety stations where volunteers will distribute free sunscreen and 50,000 UV wristbands that turn color when exposed to sunlight

-Pre-registration online is $24 to $27; on-site registration available the evening of the race

-Event supports skin cancer education and melanoma research

-This is the 12th annual race in Indianapolis; the largest one-day sun safety initiative ever established in the United States
