Coroner identifies man killed by ISP after pointing weapon

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man that was shot and killed by police after he pointed a weapon at officers has been identified.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as 59-year-old Terry Edwards of Indianapolis.

ISP was serving a search warrant in the 100 block of West Gimber Street Friday morning. When officers entered the residence, they found Edwards armed with a long gun. Officers told Edwards to put the gun down, but instead he pointed the weapon at a member of the SWAT team. The officer shot and killed Edwards.

That officer has been identified as Senior Trooper Josh Watson, a 12 year veteran of the Indiana State Police.
