Organizations racing to clean trash left behind at IMS

SPEEDWAY, Ind (WISH) – Fields are filled with trash one day after the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Dozens of non-profit organizations are spending the first part of their Memorial Day cleaning up what 350,000 race fans left behind.

Among the trash you’ll find beer cans, beer boxes, food wrappers and a bucket with a toilet seat attached to it was even found.

In years past, the volunteer groups would get paid by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway based on the areas they cleaned. Group were able to make thousands of dollars.
