Crews respond to residence fire on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Crews responded to a residence fire on the city’s east side Tuesday.

The fire occurred at a residence in the 1400 block of North Chester Avenue around 3 p.m.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the first crew arrived on scene minutes after receiving the initial call of  the fire.

After arriving on scene, smoke and fire was discovered coming from the structure.

Crews were able to get the fire under control just after 3:30 p.m.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

However, damage of the fire has been estimated at $60,000.

Authorities have ruled the fire as accidental and said the family was in the process of moving into the residence when someone set boxes on the stove.

The family told officials that someone must have accidentally bump a button on the stove turning on one of the burners.
