Greencastle officer arrested for OWI in Hendricks County

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — An officer with the Greencastle Police Department has been charged for drunk driving.

Randolph Seipel was arrested on May 26. According to court documents, Seipel was doing 56 in a 30 miles per hour zone on U.S. 40 at Dan Jones Road in Plainfield. The officer also noticed that the vehicle stayed stationary for four or five seconds after a red light turned green.

When the arresting officer went to talk to Seipel, Seipel stated that he was an officer and that he had a gun in his vehicle. The officer said Seipel denied drinking, then later said he had been at Scottish Rite in Indianapolis.

The officer said Seipel failed three field sobriety tests then blew a .221 BrAC on a portable breath test.

Seipel was then arrested and placed in the Hendricks County Jail. He has since bonded out.

He faces charges of operating while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated with a BAC greater than .15 percent.
