IPS kicks off public town hall meetings

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Public Schools has officially kicked off a new series of town hall meetings.

The meetings aim to get public input on the district’s strategic plan.

The first meeting took place Tuesday morning at the Julia Carson Government Center on the near north side.

Representatives from IPS were on hand to answer questions and take note of people’s opinions on several issues.

Greg Newlin says IPS is dedicated to making sure everyone’s questions are answered.

“If these meetings aren’t conducive and they’d really like to meet or sit down, we’re happy to do that,” Newlin said. “We just want to make sure that we engage the community and pull from their strengths as well, and then share with them what our strengths are and what we’re doing for our kids.”

The town hall meetings are scheduled through June 16th.
