One teen still in critical condition after fatal White Co. crash

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – One of the teens involved in Tuesday’s fatal crash in White County remains in critical condition at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WLFI, deputies said a car driven by 17-year-old Benjamin Edwards of West Lafayette, was traveling west on County Road 700 South when for an unknown reason the car left the roadway and rolled several times before hitting a metal utility pole.

Three passengers were in the car: Alexandra Deryn, Alexander Alge and Christian Burns; all age 17 and from West Lafayette.

Burns was pronounced dead at the scene.

Edwards and Alge were taken to St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette. Deryn was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.

Officials at IU Health Arnett said Deryn was transported to Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon. IU Health Methodist staff said Deryn is listed in critical condition as of Wednesday.

A spokesperson for St. Elizabeth East said Edwards and Alge have been released.
