Hundreds gather for Ten Point Coalition prayer breakfast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Fourth Annual Ten Point Community Prayer Breakfast will fill the foyer of Banker’s Life Fieldhouse Friday morning.

On Thursday, the coalition’s leader Reverend Charles Harrison was walking the streets with IMPD trying to piece together a shooting case that left two teens injured in one of their focus areas.

Harrison said more than 200 days have passed since a homicide occurred in any of the three neighborhoods the coalition patrols. Those include Butler-Tarkington, UNWA and Crown Hill. Still, Harrison said one crime can quickly stir up a cycle of violence once again.

“We’re working together to really address the issues that are leading our youth astray and we’re out here with a message that we’re really concerned about our young people, we’re really committed to helping them redirect their life on a path of success,” Rev. Harrison said.

The Ten Point Coalition is expected to honor former IU Health President and CEO Dan Evans with their humanitarian award and recognize the Butler-Tarkington community with the Neighborhood Crime Fighting award. The event is sold out and scheduled from 7:30 until 9 a.m.
