INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Funeral services for an Indiana veteran killed after participating in the Rolling Thunder ride in Washington D.C. will be held Saturday.

Memorial services for Craig Van Brunt will at the St. Thomas Catholic Church located at 523 S. Merrill Street in Fortville, Indiana.

There will be a public visitation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Services will start at 3 p.m.

He will be buried at Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project here or the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital here.

Rolling Thunder Indiana Chapter #1 will escort Van Brunt.

Van Brunt was in the Army for more than 20 years and spent two of those years in Vietnam.

He went to college when he was 42 and graduated with a computer degree. After he retired in November, he decided he wanted to join Rolling Thunder Indiana Chapter #1 on their annual ride to Washington D.C. to advocate for prisoners of war and those still missing in action.

His son said he also wanted to make it to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall for some closure from the war.

“It’s obviously a horrible situation. I would love to have my dad still here, but the way he went, he got to spend Friday night at the wall and he did get to have peace before it did happen,” Jacob Van Brunt said.
