Circle City in Pride begins

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Saturday marks the beginning of a week-long celebration for the LGBTQ community.

The annual Circle City in Pride week started with the Rainbow 5K run/ walk.

The event raised money that will be used to support the Indy Pride Resource Center Fund and provide HIV education through the Indiana AIDS Fund, a program of the Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis.

Festival director H.R. Jung said he hopes the celebration serves as an educational tool for the community.

Jung said, “I think it brings awareness to LGBT families and I think it brings awareness to our lives and everything that goes on with that.”

Jung said he’s noticing more support from people who are not a member of the LGBT community since the United State Supreme Court ruled state bans on same-sex marriage unconstitutional in June 2015.
