3rd annual Indy Mega-Adoption event offering more than 1,000 animals

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indy Mega-Adoption Event is offering more than 1,000 cats and dogs for low-cost, same-day adoptions.

More than 1,000 cats and dogs from nearly 30 animal shelter and rescue organizations will be up for adoption on June 25 and June 26.

The animals are a variety of ages, sizes and breeds. They are already vaccinated and micro-chipped for $30.

The event’s imitative is to make more room at central Indiana animal shelters where approximately 20,000 animals are housed a year.

“Ending pet-overpopulation in Indianapolis and the accompanying needless euthanasia, demands aggressive spay/neuter, vaccination, medical care and adoption. We have been neutering as many as 75 animals a day at FACE for more than 17 years, resulting in the fewest animals euthanized in our city’s history,” said Ellen Robinson, director, FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic. “The Indy Mega-Adoption Event places even more cats and dogs into safe and loving homes, and out of our local shelters. Our goal is that we become a no-kill city.”

The Indy Mega-Adoption Event is Saturday, June 25 from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 26 from noon to 6 p.m.

It’s at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, South Pavilion at 1202 East 38th Street.

Admission is free, but parking at the fairgrounds is $5.
