Family devastated after dog killed with bow and arrow

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis family is devastated after someone used a bow and arrow to shoot and kill their dog.

This happened Monday morning about 9 o’clock in their east Indianapolis neighborhood.

Now the family is trying to figure out who did it.

The family is trying to get justice for Yogi, their 11-year-old Beagle.

They’re offering a $50 reward for anyone with viable information on who committed this crime.

Monday felt like a nightmare for the Reneau family.

“I was just shocked to see the arrow sticking out both sides of him,” Mike Reneau said, “It was terrible.”

Their beagle was fatally injured by a bow and arrow in their own neighborhood.

Yogi had somehow escaped from their backyard and was wandering the streets by their house.

“Yesterday morning I received a phone call from my wife that our dog had been shot,” Reneau said.

He rushed home to find their family dog bleeding on the sidewalk.

“He’s just an old dog, never harm anybody, just a shame that somebody would do something like that,” Reneau said.

They rushed Yogi to the vet, but he couldn’t be saved.

“It makes no sense that somebody could look at that poor animal, that wouldn’t hurt a fly, moseying along and shoot him with an arrow,” Reneau said, “It’s just crazy.”

Tuesday night the family hung up flyers with a picture of the beagle and the words “Justice for Yogi.”

“Knock on some doors and put them up on some signs so everybody can see them,” Reneau said, “Maybe somebody saw something and they can help us out.”

They want to find the person responsible.

“I’d just like to get him some justice, find out who did this, if anyone has information we’d really appreciate it,” Reneau said.

The family has reached out to police.
