IMPD, HIM by HER join to create crime fighting duo

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A new crime fighting duo was reveled Tuesday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department partnered with HIM by HER Foundation for a new crime fighting initiative.

The foundation is a non-profit. It targets at-risk adults and kids.

They strive to provide positive paths and life choices.

The foundation was started by a veteran IMPD homicide detective.

The objective is to have officers meet with those at risk, and direct them to programs offered by the HIM by HER Foundation.

“We partner with them to teach them life skills, better decision making, to help them be more successful, be more proactive in our engagement with our youth,” Assistant Chief James Waters said.

Tuesday’s announcement also featured the HIM by HER mobile development center, which is a semi that takes the programs to the participants.
