Indianapolis partnering with IndyGo to offer free bus passes to veterans

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Veterans will soon be able to get free bus passes.

Mayor Joe Hogsett and City-County Councillor Scott Kreider are partnering with IndyGo to give free bus passes to veterans in Indianapolis.

The program will provide more than 23,000 bus rides annually for Indianapolis residents who have served in the American armed forces.

“Our veterans have made incredible sacrifices for our country,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “This program will ensure they have access to jobs and medical facilities, as well as resources and retail establishments across our great city.”

Councillor Kreider was a big part of making the program happen.

“I am pleased to see the bipartisan effort to provide opportunities for our veterans to succeed,” said Councillor Kreider. “Having access to reliable transportation is key to the success of our veterans, as it is for many other groups with transportation needs. This initiative is an important step toward providing much needed support for those who have served our county.”

To get a pass, you can call the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622.
