Mom who left child in hot car during stripper audition arrested again for neglect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A mom who was previously arrested for leaving her child in a hot car while she allegedly auditioned at a Nashville strip club was arrested Tuesday for child neglect.

According to Metro police, Kelsey McMurtry, 24, responded to a Craigslist ad for childcare on May 30 and arranged a meeting with the childcare provider.

The provider thought the meeting was to introduce themselves and complete paperwork, according to an arrest warrant.

Authorities report that after meeting the caregiver, McMurtry and a friend disappeared after unloading her 1-year-old and car seat while the caregiver was retrieving paperwork from her car.

The child was reportedly dirty and she and her car seat were both soaked with urine, according to the police report.

Police said McMurtry left no other clothing for the child to be changed into other than a pair of leggings.

The caregiver only had McMurtry’s phone number and an abbreviated name. She attempted to contact her for several hours before calling police.

Officers contacted McMurtry and she was later arrested that night for public intoxication on Broadway.

She was booked into the Metro jail and charged with two counts of child neglect and criminal impersonation. Her bond was set at $65,000.
