Andre Carson: Don’t blame all Muslims for Orlando attack
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Congressman Andre Carson cautions against blaming all Muslims for the Orlando attack.
Carson is one of two Muslim members of Congress.
“I think there’s this human tendency to want to castigate an entire group of people or religion or even social order based on the actions of those who claim to be a part of that group,” he told 24-Hour news 8 via phone from Washington, D.C. “I think it’s clear this was an act of terrorism, but it doesn’t have to be carried out by a foreign terrorist organization for a Muslim — so-called Muslim — extremist to be an act of terror.”
He said he favors a community approach to overcoming the problem of homegrown terrorism, including a look at making it more difficult to get certain types of weapons.
