Brownsburg man accused of killing brother faces judge
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — An unshaved Justin Brabson appeared before a judge Monday afternoon. The 28-year-old is accused of fatally shooting his big brother, Christopher Brabson.
According to court documents, Justin shot his brother 11 times. On Sunday around 2:30 p.m., investigators found Justin at a Motel 6 in Crawfordsville. Detectives received a tip that Justin was staying at the motel.
Prosecutors currently don’t know a motive for the killing. The two brothers would get in arguments, according to investigators; however, that has done little to explain why Justin pulled the trigger.
The Brabsons’ parents told detectives that Justin suffered from a mental illness. His mother recently told police that Justin was frustrated with his current financial situation.
In a recent conversation between mother and son, Justin told his mother he’s “living in a hell inside his mind.” Police later discovered that Justin had purchased a gun last month and asked specific questions on how to clean the firearm. Detectives credited the community with calling in tips on Justin’s whereabouts. \
On Monday afternoon, Hendricks County Prosecuting Attorney Patricia Baldwin spoke about the uniqueness of this case.
“I cannot think of a murder in the county that involved siblings,” Baldwin said.
Justin is scheduled to make his next court hearing on July 25. A judge has entered a not guilty plea on Justin’s behalf. He has no bond.
