Home in Seelyville damaged after fire rekindles

SEELYVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) – A home is heavily damaged by an early morning fire.

It happened a little after 12:30 Monday morning in the 9800 block of East Ayres Avenue. That’s just east of Kleptz Restaurant, and just south of Highway 40 in Seelyville.

The fire department said fire reached the garage, which is where there were reports of a gas tank exploding.

Officials told 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WTHI, this was a rekindle from a fire that happened at around 5 p.m. Sunday.

No injuries were reported.

Neighbors said the residence had dozens of exotic birds, but apparently only three were rescued.

A cause for the fire has not been determined.
