ISP investigating death of Pendleton inmate found unresponsive in cell
PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) – An inmate at the Pendleton Correctional Facility died on Saturday, according to the acting superintendent.
Pendleton Correctional Facility Acting Superintendent Duane Alsip said 24-year-old Dionte Ramsey was found unresponsive in his cell. He was transferred to the facility’s urgent care after CPR attempts failed.
An ambulance arrived at the facility shortly before 1 p.m., but Ramsey was pronounced dead at 1:08 p.m.
Ramsey’s death is being investigated by the Indiana State Police.
Ramsey was serving a 45 year sentence for two counts of kidnapping and one count of burglary with a projected release date of Oct. 29, 2035.
