Driver falls asleep, passenger ejected in Tippecanoe Co.

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Three people were taken to the hospital Tuesday, including an infant, after an overnight crash on U.S. 52 West in Tippecanoe County.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office said just before 1 a.m. a woman fell asleep behind the wheel and drove off the road just east of Montmorenci. A male passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Deputies said he was not wearing a seat belt.

The two adults and an infant in the car were taken to the hospital. Deputies said there were no major injuries only “bumps and bruises.”

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
