North Carolina cop shows some kids a thing or two about dancing

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A video of a Durham police officer has been shared more than 40,000 times. But it’s not for what you may think.

Christy Spears took a video of one of Durham’s finest doing the whip and nae nae.

“The officer he was doing his patrol and I actually seen him from my porch you know up there dancing. So, I was like, ‘I have to get this. It’s so cute and adorable,’” Spears said.

She shot the video Sunday on her phone at the Oakley Square Complex. Spears admits the officer had some moves – even in uniform on a hot day.

“Oh it was so awesome. He really had the stankey leg going on,” she said.

The younger kids with the officer may have learned more than just a new dance move. They saw a different side of the police.

Neighbor Cieria Holeman said cops are usually at the complex but not for a dance off.

“So when I seen it, I was like, ‘oh my goodness. That is too cute.’ And all the kids been going with him. So, it just made it seem more better than what we’ve been seeing from cops,” Holeman said.

Holeman is one of the thousands to share the video on Facebook.

“I was hoping that it would change everything that’s going on in the world. So everybody could at least try to get together and come together and make it a better world for our little ones,” she said.
