Officials announce arrests of 331 immigration violators in Midwest

CHICAGO, Ill. (WISH) – – Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) say they arrested 331 people in the Midwest, including 25 subjects from Indianapolis as part of a month long operation to target criminal aliens and other immigration violators.

The operation targeted six states throughout the Midwest, including Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Kansas and Missouri. The operation began on May 9. The operation is the latest effort by ICE to remove convicted criminal aliens.

Of the 331 arrests made in the six states 25 were in Indianapolis. Twenty-three of the arrests were of male offenders who were convicted of crimes in the U.S. Charges included drug possession, fraud, sex offenses against a child and domestic violence. Additional arrests occurred in Bloomington, Bremen, Elkhart, Jeffersonville, Lafayette, Richmond, Seymour, Shelbyville, and Tipton.

Officials say that those arrested have outstanding orders of deportation. They are subject to be removed from the county immediately.
