Clinton County teen dies in head-on crash

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A teenager from Kirklin, Indiana, has died in a two-vehicle crash in Clinton County.

The crash happened just after 5:15 p.m. Monday near State Road 29 and County Road 200 North. According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old Clinton Central student Maria Droesch was driving south on SR 29 when she swerved and hit a truck head-on.

Droesch was pinned under the truck and had to be extricated from her car. She died at the scene.

The truck was hauling a trailer filled with liquid blacktop sealer. The tank was penetrated during the crash, spilling sealer over the driver and passenger of the truck – 22-year-old Jared Lindsey and 20-year-old April Lindsey, both of Cutler, Indiana.

Both people were taken to a Frankfort hospital in critical condition, then transported to a hospital in Indianapolis.

The road was closed for nearly eight hours while crews with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management cleaned up the scene.
