NWS confirms 2 tornadoes touched down in Indiana

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) — The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Indiana early Thursday morning. Both struck in Huntington County.

The first hit at 12:51 a.m. and was rated an EF-1 with peak winds of 105 miles per hour. It hit five miles south/southeast of Huntington. It was 200 yards wide and was on the ground for 2.5 miles.

The second tornado, rated an EF-2, touched down six minutes later. Peak wind gusts reached 120 miles per hour. It was 300 yards wide and traveled 2.4 miles.
