Subaru of Indiana is recruiting former soldiers

 INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Japan’s largest steelmaker is making another investment in Indiana, and Subaru of Indiana is recruiting former soldiers.

Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal, which partnered with arcelormittal in New Carlisle, is investing $50 million in Nippon Steel and Sumikin Cold Heading Wire Indiana in Shelbyville.

The company’s new plant will process steel wire that automotive parts makers in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky will use to make fasteners. The new plant is expected to open next year.

In other business headlines, Subaru Automotive in Lafayette is turning to Fort Campbell, Kentucky to recruit soldiers planning to leave the military. Already they have convinced some former military members to make the move to Lafayette to work for the company.

Subaru said veterans have great teamwork skills, problem-solving skills and the best work ethic. There are also tax credit opportunities for employers who hire veterans.
