20 busted at underage drinking party in Zionsville

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Twenty people faces charges after Boone County police busted an underage drinking party early Friday morning.

Officers were called to a home in the 6900 block of Old Hunt Club Road in Zionsville around 1 a.m. after a Crime Stoppers tip.

Police spotted what appeared to be kids drinking inside the home and several juveniles tried to flee, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. They were quickly caught and returned to the house.

Nineteen juveniles and one adult tested positive for alcohol, the sheriff’s office said. The adult, 19-year-old Dailyn Humphries, was taken into custody for being a minor in possession of alcohol. Charges have been submitted to juvenile probation for the other 19 people.

“Summer-time breeds these types of calls in Boone County,” Boone County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Major Tony Harris said. “What these juveniles need to understand is that they are breaking the law. It may seem harmless to them, but it can turn tragic in an instant. I would ask that the parents of Boone County youth, to speak to your children about the harms of underage drinking. Not only is there a potential of harm, but the consequences of being caught are irreversible… and last forever.”

The homeowner was out of town at the time of the party.
