Fire destroys home, damages neighboring houses on south side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A house was completely destroyed in an early morning fire on Friday.

The Indianapolis Fire Department was called to the 1500 block of S Alabama Street around 2 a.m.

The house was engulfed in flames when IFD arrived.

Fire officials say it took an hour to get the fire under control.

There is no one living in the house. But the neighboring houses both caught on fire. The house to the south suffered $10,000 in damages. The owner made it out safely.

The main house is a total loss, according to IFD. It suffered $150,000 in damages.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
