More than 60 arrested as result of Operation Blue Thunder

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – More than 60 people were arrested as part of Operation Blue Thunder.

According to the Indiana State Police, Operation Blue Thunder consisted of eight different police departments working together to conduct patrols aimed at stopping the flow of narcotics.

Police said the officers patrolled U.S. 31 in Miami and Fulton counties in both marked and unmarked vehicles and with assistance from K-9 officers from June 22 to June 24.

In all, 64 people were arrested on 134 preliminary drug-related charges.

ISP said that during patrols officers located cocaine, heroin, LSD, methamphetamine, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, edible marijuana food, prescription medication as well as drug paraphernalia during traffic stops.

Departments that took part in the patrols include: the Indiana State Police, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, the Logansport Police Department, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and the Rochester Police Department.
