Third Ball State employee arrested for child porn in three months
MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — For the third month in a row, has Ball State employee has been arrested for possession of child pornography.
Robert Yadon, a former professor of Information and Communications Sciences, was arrested on Monday.
Ball State University Police arrested Yadon following an investigation that also involved the Indiana State Police Cyber Crime Unit.
Yadon had been barred from campus since June 21.
Randal Schmidt, a maintenance supervisor and 20-year employee of BSU, was arrested in April. A month later, Brian Siebenaler, a math instructor, was also arrested. Investigators do not believe the cases are related.
“The university has in place strong security measures to protect the integrity of our technology system, which include routinely scanning the use of information systems,” BSU Chief James Duckham said. “When traffic patterns suggest that information security, integrity, or performance has been compromised, we investigate. These enhanced measures enabled us to discover and further examine the conduct in all three of these matters.”

The university provides resources to support the university’s mission of education, research and public service. Like other public universities, Ball State does not use technology to block certain content, but instead has in place a strong policy governing the use of the internet that clearly prohibits criminal activity.
Ball State always examines what we have learned after any serious incident of misconduct. The university consistently reviews best practices in higher education and believes that its policies and practices in the use of technology are strong and enabled us to detect the conduct at issue. If we find that additional measures are warranted, they will be implemented.”
