Bloomington Police looking for man after attack on B-Line Trail

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – Bloomington Police are asking for your help finding a man who attacked a woman on the B-Line Trail.

The attack happened Sunday afternoon.

The victim described the suspect as a white male, between 40 and 45 years old, between 5’8″ and 5’10” with a very skinny build.

“It definitely makes me not want to go on the trail,” said Alexis Teasley, while running on the B-Line. “It definitely makes me apprehensive to do things. I could see myself not using this trail anymore honestly after hearing this today and this happening before.”

“I’m not going to be walking to many places by myself anymore so I’ll get rides or walk with someone,” said Anna Koehl, while walking to a pool near the B-Line.

Around noon on Sunday, Bloomington police say a man grabbed a woman by the arm and tried to pull her off the trail. It happened near North Fairview Street.

The woman wasn’t injured. Police say others on the trail heard her screaming and came to help, scaring off the man.

“It’s unfair that I have to feel uncomfortable,” said Koehl.

There were a series of attacks on the trail back in 2014, including an attempted sexual assault. To help ease nerves then, police increased security on the trail.

While some are concerned, others say despite the recent attacks, they still feel comfortable on the trail.

“It’s unfortunate to hear something like that happened, but every time I’ve been on here it always seemed like it’s a very safe environment and it seemed like there hasn’t been that kind of a worry for me or concern,” said Patrick Ober, while walking near where the attack occurred.

“I’m not afraid to use this trail during the day. I think the vast majority of the time its okay,” said Stacee Williams, while riding her bike.

Police suggest avoiding the trail late at night and to go out with others. They also say you should carry a phone, and all the light poles are numbered to help identify your location.

“It’s always a good idea to make sure you’re aware of where you are whenever you’re walking around these trails,” said Ober.

Bloomington Police have also said the man had no facial hair, and both of his arms were covered in tattoos.
