Experimental aircraft makes emergency landing near Tennessee interstate

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – An experimental aircraft made an emergency landing in a field near Interstate 65 in southern Williamson County.

The pilot of a Thorpe T-18 reported the loss of engine power 24 miles south of Nashville International Airport at 9:22 a.m. Wednesday.

He was able to avoid a cow while landing the aircraft in a privately owned field just north of Summit High.

The plane’s landing gear was damaged in the landing.

The pilot is from North Carolina and had left Warren County after fueling up and was headed to Arkansas for work.

No one was injured, according to police.

The FAA will investigate the crash.
