November Project: A new way to workout in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A new ‘grass roots’ fitness movement is changing the way people workout.

And that was the creator’s goal.

The November Project started in Boston in 2011, but now the movement is going worldwide.

It was named the November Project because it was started by two friends in Boston, Brogan Graham and Bojan Mandaric during the month of November. They wanted to see if they could work out for a month straight every day in the morning.

When they were successful, the movement gained momentum.

The November Project is in more than 20 cities now and has turned into a worldwide movement.

The creators say the movement is growing because of human contact and encouragement.

The workout has a different approach.

First, the workout starts with human contact, a hug, a high five or a fist bump. Second is encouragement. Anyone brave enough to go through the gruesome workout will need help. And don’t be surprised to hear some cuss words.

In Indianapolis they tackle the stairs at the war memorial in addition to other workouts.

Lastly, “No Excuses,” show up and if you don’t, you could be ridiculed on that city’s webpage. They have theme days and rain, shine or snow, people are out at the War Memorial no matter what.

The workouts in Indy are free and anyone can join. They are at 5:28 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the north side of the Indiana War Memorial.
