IMPD makes arrest in shooting death of Leroy Brown

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of 51-year-old Leroy Brown.

On Thursday, detectives with IMPD arrested 35-year-old Jerry Turentine on preliminary charges of murder with the help of Lawrence police officers.

Police were able to obtain information on Turentine to obtain an arrest warrant. They believe the shooting stemmed from an earlier disturbance between Brown and Turentine.

Brown was found suffering from a several gunshot wounds on June 25 in the 3000 block of Sherman Drive at 10:45 p.m. Brown was transported to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, he was in critical condition.  Soon after being taken to the hospital, Brown was pronounced dead.
