Rain Sunday, Monday could damper central Indiana fireworks

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Sunday morning rain will become widespread and lift north through central Indiana.

Rain will be heavy at times and continue through Monday. Localized flooding will be an issue as rain totals could top two inches in some areas by Monday night.

A storm system will move through the state through the end of the holiday weekend, keeping rain chances elevated. Late Monday, rain will be scattered, possibly allowing for some time to get firework displays off as scheduled.

Count on damp conditions to remain. Tuesday rain will become more isolated, and hot and humid conditions will return.

Expect highs near 90 degrees Tuesday through the rest of next week.

For now, the cooler than normal temps will last a few days longer. In fact, Sunday’s high of 70 degrees in Indy could tie the old record low for the day set back in 1924.
