Man taken to hospital after shot in face

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An elderly man was taken to the hospital after being shot in the face.

The shooting happened in the area near Capitol Avenue and 39th Street just after midnight.

Police said the man went to a neighbor’s home for help, where someone called 911.

Officers said they found the door open at what is believed to be the victim’s home.  Shell casings were found nearby.

The man is said to be in serious condition.

Police have not said anything about a suspect or what may have lead to the shooting.
