Woman in Florida found unconscious in car with 2 children, crack cocaine

SARASOTA, FL (WFLA) – Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman after they found her unconscious in her vehicle with two young children in the backseat.

Deputies woke up Veronica Posey, 37, from the influence of alcohol, and say they found multiple narcotics in the vehicle, including crack cocaine, marijuana, and various controlled substances.

The children in the car were unharmed. They have been released to the Department of Children and Family Services.

Posey has been charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drugs without a prescription, possession of a controlled substance, possession of crack cocaine and two counts of child neglect.

She remains in the Sarasota County Jail in lieu of a $65,000 bond.

She has been arrested several times before in Sarasota County. The last time was June 20, on cocaine possession and other charges.
