INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Several people are being treated at area hospitals because of burns and firework related injuries.

A spokesperson for IU Health Methodist Hospital said they are treating patients at both Riley & Methodist for the injuries. They say four people were treated, but none of the injuries were considered serious.

Eskenazi said they saw more than ten people with firework related injuries throughout the entire holiday weekend.

Franciscan St. Francis said they had at least four people visit the emergency room in Indianapolis over the weekend with firework related injuries.

As far as Fourth of July arrests, dispatchers around Central Indiana said the number one call they received were noise complaints, but they had little as far as arrests or firework related injuries. Many of them mentioned that the weather likely played a role in that.

One person was hurt in Morgan County when they lit a firework near their shoulder. Dispatch did not have that person’s condition.

An IMPD report said a man on the city’s north side hurt his hand when he was holding a firework and it exploded while it was still in the tube.

And in Lawrence, police who were working fireworks at Lawrence Park arrested a man for pointing his gun at someone, according to a report.

But overall, Lawrence police said it was one of the smoothest Independence Day weekends they have ever had.
