Police raid 2 Fort Wayne homes tied to Spice operation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Two homes in Fort Wayne were raided simultaneously by Fort Wayne police drug officers early Wednesday.

Homes in the 2500 block of West State Court and the 1300 block of Third Street were raided in connection with a spice investigation. Captain Kevin Hunter said detectives had been investigating the operation for a month or longer.

Hunter said no one was home at the West State Court home. Four dogs were taken by Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control officers. At the Third Street home, then, five people were taken into custody and a 10-year-old boy was removed. Three of the adults were later released.

Hunter said the investigation involved numerous people and is a part of a potentially larger drug ring.

No other details were released.
