Motorcycle ride honors trooper, raises funds for kids

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — More than 100 people took advantage of the nice weather Saturday to go on a bike ride benefiting kids in central Indiana.

The Trooper Bartram Poke Run Memorial Ride is held every year.

Bartram was killed in the line of duty in a 1998 crash. He had always been involved in shop with a cop events, and his family wanted to carry on the tradition.

They started this ride as a way to raise money to take kids Christmas shopping.

Their goal is to raise $22,000 from this event and from donations, enabling about 150 kids to go shopping in December.

Saturday’s ride began at Southside Harley Davidson in Indianapolis and ended at the American Legion on 126th Street in Fishers.
