12th Annual Pop Tab and Coin Drop on Monument Circle to set Guinness World Record

Grab a pop can, pull a tab and help out a great cause! The effort is all part of the 12th Annual Pop Tab and Coin Drop on Monument Circle to set a Guinness World Record. Michelle Study-Campbell, the CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, chats with Amber to tell us how you can help!

ABOUT THE 12TH ANNUAL POP TAB AND COIN DROP:

Throughout the year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMHCCIN) collects pop tabs to raise money for families they host every day with children receiving treatment in area hospitals. This year they are trying to set a Guinness World Record for the most aluminum can tabs recycled in 24 hours with their annual celebration on Monument Circle. They are also collecting spare change to support the cause.

Last year, RMHCCIN collected around 10 million pop tabs in three hours, but they need help from Hoosiers to do that again this year. Be a part of history and bring your pop tabs downtown Friday, July 15 from 11a.m. – 2p.m. for the 12th Annual Pop Tab and Coin Drop on Monument Circle. For those who haven’t had time to collect pop tabs but still want to make a contribution, they are also holding a coin drive so you can finally get rid of that spare change and make a big difference. The coins will help RMHCCIN as they provide services to nearly 5,000 families that come through their doors every year.

The event will have fun for all ages, including:

• Games

• Live music

• Photos with the World’s Largest Pop Tab

• Food by Scratch Truck and Big Ron’s Bistro

• Face painting by Willing Hands Designs

• An appearance by Ronald McDonald himself!

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana provides a supportive home-away-from-home for families of children receiving medical care at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and other area hospitals. Each night, as many as 58 families call the House “home”. Thanks to community, corporate and individual support, the house is open 365 days a year keeping families together when it counts the most.
