Free hugs given in Mississippi amid past week of tragedy

MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – This week of tragedies in Baton Rouge, Minnesota, and Dallas has been tough on people emotionally and mentally.

So a trio in Madison, Mississippi brought smiles to many, with a free hug campaign.

Indiana Tate and Jessica Bracey and a young boy were outside the Walmart giving free hugs to anyone who needed cheering up.

The women said they’re just trying to spread love and brighten people’s day.

“With everything that’s going on right now, all we’re trying do is just be a small pebble in the pool and make a ripple. We’re just trying to be the difference and the change that we want to see in the world and that’s all. It’s something simple as giving a hug,” said Tate.

Many people stopped to get their free hug, some even stopped for a picture.
