Man dies after shooting on the east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has died after a shooting on the near east side of Indianapolis early Monday morning.

Police were called to the 6000 block of Commodore Drive around 1:40 a.m.

They found a 32-year-old man shot in the chest. He was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

According to police, he later died in the hospital. They have not released his identity.

Police say people heard gunshots in the area and found the man next to a house. It is unclear if he lives in the area.

Suspect information has not been released.
