Shots fired call leads Lafayette police to possible shooting victim at hospital

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police are investigating a report of shots fired at Spring Gardens.

According to police, around 12:30 p.m. multiple shots were fired at the south side apartment complex. Officers believe at least eight shots were fired, maybe between two people.

Witnesses told police two vehicles left the scene and one person left on foot.

Lafayette police said they are investigating a man with a gunshot wound who checked himself into IU Health Arnett shortly after the shots fired call. They said the shooting victim has given them limited information.

A vehicle matching the description witnesses gave them was found in the hospital parking lot. Police are working to process that vehicle.

Investigators are still looking for a silver Pontiac Grand Prix with Illinois plates.
