Ryan White’s mother visiting Indianapolis Children’s Museum

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The mother of an Indiana boy credited with raising national awareness for the AIDS virus will be at the Children’s Museum Monday.

Jeanna White-Ginder, mother of Ryan White, will be at the Museum from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to deliver a message on anti-bullying.

She said White and her entire family were bullied while her son battled his deadly illness.

At 13, White was the first hemophiliacs in the United States to be diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. He contracted the virus through a tainted blood treatment. White was discriminated by many in his hometown and fought to stay in school. White and his mother took his battle to federal court and won. Since then, White’s story has educated people worldwide.

White-Ginder and White’s sister Andrew White, will share family photos and memories of White in the exhibit that honors him and displays his belongings.
