Look inside Team Trump’s luxury box at RNC

CLEVELAND (MEDIA GENERAL) — Republican National Committee delegates spend four days planted in semi-comfortable padded folding chairs. Other attendees in the Quicken Loans arena’s upper decks fair worse, sandwiched in run-of-the-mill, tightly spaced seats.

Not so for Team Trump.

Donald Trump’s family and allies are treated to a closely guarded luxury box just off the main level, stage left.

The walls are polished, special black carpet lines the floor, chairs are upholstered in granite microfiber, and the area is emblazoned with five large golden stars.

At the beginning of the week, signs posted on interior walls read “Team Trump: You Are Being Filmed.”

Those signs are now gone, but the featured guests, including vice presidential nominee Mike Pence’s family, Omarosa Manigault and one-time presidential nominee Bob Dole, are certainly aware that they must always be camera ready.

Networks can cut to them at any moment and an errant yawn would go viral in milliseconds.

When the box is full during primetime events, security is quick to tell media pre-screened by Secret Service to “keep moving.”

Delegates walk by to wave hello and holler encouragements.

But only Trump’s upper echelon may enter.

During the two upcoming evenings Trump and Pence will on be hand, and have the absolute best seats in the house.Follow Chance Seales on Twitter: @ChanceSeales
