Neighbor takes pictures of burglary suspect in act

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – Lawrence police arrested a man wanted for burglary.

According to police, officers were sent to the 10900 block of Echo Spring Circle after reports of an active burglary.

The homeowner told dispatch someone was in the home after hearing the door kick in.

Officers said when they arrived on scene they saw a male, later identified as Deshawn Hutcherson, 31 of Indianapolis, walking from an area of the home.

Officers also found a vehicle parked in the front of the home that was reported stolen on July 17 to IMPD.

Detectives said they found a wallet with Hutcherson’s ID inside the vehicle. They also discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant from a burglary charge out of Hamilton County.

Police said after they arrested him, they found the key to the stolen vehicle inside his pocket, along with a checkbook. passport, and credit card taken from a victim’s home.

Detectives also discovered in the vehicle, two gaming systems and a backpack containing information to a home in the 7700 block of Prairie View Lane. When detectives checked the home, they found the front door had been forcibly entered.

The victim from that home, Jared Numbers, was not inside at the time of the burglary.

“The police officers called me and they said your door was kicked in and somebody rummaged through your house and that kind of stuff,” says Numbers.

He went on to say, “All the doors were locked, everything was done the way you’d expect it to happen and he still kicked in the door and everything.”

In addition, a neighbor who lives a few houses down from Numbers told detectives he took pictures of the suspect driving the same vehicle parked outside the home on Echo Spring Circle, with the same license plate number. The neighbor also took photos of the suspect. Detectives said the photos appear to look like Hutcherson.

Hutcherson was transported to the Arrestee Processing Center and is preliminary charged with two counts of level four burglary and level 6 auto theft.
